An ISA is not an investment in its own right but a home for you to house your investments within. An ISA is a 'wrapper' in which you can shelter your investments from tax. Wrap up your investments in an ISA and benefit from the tax-free returns.

SIPP

A SIPP is a Self Invested Personal Pension, a type of pension for people happy to make their own investment decisions. A SIPP is one of the most tax-efficient ways of saving for retirement. Like all pensions, a SIPP offers up to 45% tax relief on contributions and there is no UK capital gains tax or UK income tax to pay. The tax benefits will depend on your individual circumstances and tax rules are subject to change by the government.

If you are based outside of an accepted jurisdiction, you are welcome to join, additional checks may apply before you are able to invest on the platform.

We are required by law to ensure you meet one of the following the following the criteria before you can invest on the platform
Everyday Investor
You earn up to £100,000 per year, hold net assets up to £250,000, have not lent through peer-to-peer lending platforms before and do not have professional experience of it
Sophisticated Investor
You have experience of peer-to-peer lending platforms or have recent financial experience in a professional capacity.
High Net Worth Investor
Your earn more than £100,000 per year, or hold net assets of £250,000 or more.
Limited Company
You earn up to £100,000 per year, hold net assets up to £250,000, have not lent through peer-to-peer lending platforms before and do not have professional experience of it
1 Register

This is a simple process that will take less than 5 minutes.

2 Deposit funds

Deposit money into your Creditmonga online account using either a bank transfer, direct debit or card payment.

3 Build portfolio

Start building your investment portfolio, either by using Managed Investing, Direct lending or Auto Invest.

4 Get payments

Receive payments from borrowers. You can reinvest these funds, hold as cash or withdraw funds.

Tax considerations

P2P investment like for all other investments, you need to allow for the impact of tax. Tax will depend on your circumstances. Interest earned up to £1000 a year is not subject to tax. Any interest above £1000 allow is taxed at your marginal tax rate. This is done through the self-assessment via the self-assessment. This includes interest from the bank and building society accounts but not through ISA. Interest earned through your ISA will not be taxed. There is an annual limit of the £15,000.

As an investor, you should considers the fees and charges of each investments as these will impact on your returns. Creditmonga will outline the fees and charges on each loan or fund. These fees include:

Borrower fees
These are fees charged to the borrower for regular administration and inital set up of the loan. Details of the fees are outlined in the details for each loan.

Managed Fund fees
These are the management fess charged for the ready made portfoliosfund and are outlined in each of the fund's details.

Transaction fees
The fee charged on selling a loan. This is curently 0.15% of the amount sold.
